PARENTS IN EDUCATION (P.I.E.)
P.I.E. is a parent support group for the School that is open to all parents or guardians of children enrolled. It may also include faculty, staff and Board members. The purposes outlined in the organization’s Bylaws focus on —
· Prayer for the School, its program, its leaders (faculty and staff), and its families
· Fundraising
· Promotion of the best possible relationships among parents, teachers, staff, students, administration and Board.
· Provision of greater understanding of the purposes and objectives of the School by the parents.
· Promotion of the activities of the School and ministry to the needs and opportunities present in the School.
In the daily life of the School, the parents are indispensable. They are, in many ways, bridging the gap between what the tuition is and what the tuition would be if the services they provide required the hiring of additional personnel. There is a loyalty among the parents along with an historic devotion to the School that provides the bedrock for day-to-day operations. Parents lead or help with 23 different committees or points of service in such areas as the following —
· Room parents and assistant room parents
· Classroom party chairs and party volunteers
· Teachers helpers
· Back-to-School Night planning committee
· Admissions open house volunteers
· Chess Club volunteers
· Computer work night volunteers
· Coaching
· Yearbook
· Lunchroom/food service volunteers
· Library volunteers, art room assistants, office aides
· Event chairs (i.e. Teacher Conference Dinner, Teacher Appreciation Week, Graduation party)
· Prayer groups
· Fundraising initiatives.
